Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website and the kit, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or zoom, and people reading on a small phone between calls with their estate agent.
The standard we aim for
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we did
- Body text is 18 pixels with generous line spacing, and all text meets at least 5.2 to 1 contrast against its background.
- Every page works with a keyboard, shows a clear focus outline, and starts with a “Skip to main content” link.
- The “What’s going wrong?” choices are ordinary radio buttons; the answer takes focus when you choose, and arrow-key changes are announced instead. The questions open and close with the keyboard, and the sample-page viewer closes with Escape.
- The exchange-line diagrams are written out in text beside them, and the line on the home page is an ordered list a screen reader reads as six stages.
- Pages work with JavaScript switched off, and the one animation is removed when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Layouts reflow to one column on small screens, and nothing scrolls sideways on a phone.
How we tested it
Every page was tested on 29 September 2026 with automated checks (axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA, and Lighthouse), a keyboard-only walk through every page and every interactive part at desktop and phone widths, and checks with JavaScript off and with reduced motion. Testing was done in Chrome; we haven’t yet tested with every screen reader, browser and device.
Known limits
- The kit’s PDF has fillable fields and clickable contents, but its accessibility tagging hasn’t been independently audited.
- The templates are Word documents and the calculator is an Excel workbook; how well they work with assistive technology depends on the app you open them in.
